Graduate Students
Brianna Goldenstein
B.S. Biology (minors: Chemistry, Deaf Studies)

Brianna graduated from UND in 2007 with her B.S. in Biology, and minors in Chemistry and Deaf Studies.
Her research focuses on the mechanism behind neurogenesis in the adult murine brain and involves behavioral animal testing along with immunohistochemistry and pharmacological experimentation.
Brianna would like to use her Ph.D. to find a post-doc where she can explore naturopathic treatments to the many neurological and physiological ailments plaguing society.
In her spare time, she loves to read about health, holistic medicine, food and fashion.
She also likes blogging, exercising, and spending time with friends and family.
Brian Nelson
B.A. Computer Science (minors: Chemistry, Biology)

Brian graduated from UND in 2008 with a B.A. in Computer Science, and minors in Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics. His research interests include adrenergic system involvement in epileptiform attenuation in the rodent hippocampus, as well as RGS protein manipulation. He hopes to use his Ph.D. as a vehicle for his passion in technology and software development. In his spare time, Brian can usually be found staring/cursing at a computer screen.
Undergraduate Students
Katie Collette
Undergraduate student (major: Chemistry, minors: Psychology and Visual Arts)

Katie has been doing research in Dr. Doze's lab since November 2008 and has enjoyed it immensely.
Research-wise, she is interested in neurogenesis and its possible relation to depression, anxiety, and schizophrenia.
Outside of the lab she likes to knit, go to rock shows, and watch movies with her son.
Jolynn Azure
Undergraduate student (major: Biology / Pre-Health Science)

This is her 3rd Year at the University of North Dakota as an undergraduate. She is currently pursuing a degree in Biology however she does have an emphasis on the pre-medical pathway. She is now working for Dr. Van Doze doing research with epilepsy and seizures. She is trying to illuminate a more specific pathway to reduce the side effects of these neurological diseases. Her future ambition is to apply to the University of North Dakota's School of Medicine and ultimately become a Family Practitioner in the surrounding areas. Furthermore, she is involved in certain activities and hobbies that give her immense happiness that she can forget the tensions of everyday life. For instance, she does routinely journaling, rollerblading, cooking and going for Sunday cruises.
Elizabeth Overmoe
Undergraduate student (major: Biology)
Elizabeth is a senior at UND working towards a major in Biology and a Spanish minor. She is also a member of the Honors Program at UND, and is currently working on her Honors thesis with Dr. Peter Meberg. Her research interests include neuroscience, stem cells, and cancer. She hopes to go to graduate school and receive her Ph.D., then pursue biomedical research. In her spare time she likes to paint, draw, and volunteer at the Humane Society.
